Double Degree Program with Tongji University in Shanghai and Gdansk University of Technology
Starting in September 2018, RISE students will be able to take advantage of two new agreements, which have been recently signed with important foreign Universities. These agreements will allow students to get a double degree, in addition to the double degree that already exists with MGIMO Moscow. The first university is Gdansk University of Technology, specifically the Master in Economic Analytics track in Global studies, which has been offered by the School of Economy and Management for many years.
The second University is TongJi University in Shanghai, and the agreement has been signed there with the Master in International Relations, International Politics and Diplomacy, run by the School of Political Science. The Polish program is limited to five students, while the Chinese program is limited to ten.
In order to get the double degree, during their second year of study, which they will spend in Poland, students will have to complete 36 credits, exclusive of internship or dissertation. The University of Florence and the Gdansk University of Technology have established a chart of course correspondences and their credit equivalencies. The students will also be able to do their internships in Poland (150 hours), and the receiving University will be responsible for assisting them to find the appropriate internship, and for organizing it according to local rules. The required 36 credits can be completed in one semester, but it is advisable to spend the entire academic year in Gdansk.
In the case of the exchange program with The Tongji University in Shanghai, in order to obtain the double degree, during their second year of study, which they will spend in China, students will have to complete at least sixteen Chinese course credits, but they are encouraged to get more. Eight of the sixteen credits are compulsory and include the following: Chinese language (3 credits), China Outlook (3 credits), a dissertation proposal (1 credit) , and the Code of Academic Integrity (1 credit). The remaining eight credits can be completed on the basis of an agreed list of courses. The students taking part in the program should discuss an abstract of their proposed dissertations with a special committee established by the receiving University. The abstract of at least 3,000 words must be written in Chinese with translation help from Tongji University. The Special Committee will send an evaluation report to the University of Florence. Internships may also be undertaken in China (150 hours) according to the same procedures applied in Poland.
